The Turkish president has once again criticized European countries amid an escalating row, calling them Nazis and fascists.
Speaking at a campaign rally in the Black Sea city of Rize, Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged Turkish voters to give an appropriate response to what he called the grandchildren of Nazism and Fascism in the upcoming referendum. He pledged to reevaluate Turkey’s EU membership process following the vote. Erdogan also told his supporters that he will put capital punishment to a referendum if necessary. Tensions between Turkey and the EU reached new levels after the Netherlands refused to let Turkish diplomats land in the country. Germany also barred Turkish ministers from campaigning for Turkey’s April 16 referendum.
