A 'cruel' dog owner has been caught pulling three pets along with a Land Rover.
It is thought the 'lazy' owner was trying to avoid walking the animals by attaching their leads to the car instead.
They were caught by a shocked dog owner who filmed the incident on a country lane in Milnthorpe, Cumbria.
The video went viral on Facebook, attracting thousands of comments from outraged viewers who criticised the driver's 'deplorable' and 'disgusting' behaviour.
Wendy Higgins of Humane Society International told MailOnline: 'I'm gobsmacked frankly that someone thought it was a safe or sensible idea to tether dogs to the back of a moving vehicle.
'Despite the fact that the car is going slow, those dogs are still vulnerable to injury on a public highway and the driver simply wouldn't be able to react fast enough if an accident were to occur like a car hitting them from behind. It doesn't bear thinking about.'
Eileen Brown wrote online: 'Dogs should be running on grass or the beach! That's no fun for them!'
The RSPCA investigated the incident. A spokesman told MailOnline: 'We've shown the footage to a vet and spoken to the owner of the dogs this afternoon - who are all in good health - and advised that this isn't an acceptable method of exercise.
'Despite reports on social media, the owner of the dogs is not a dog breeder and does not own a dog walking business.'
