A mother was left wanting to 'kill' a teenage girl after shocking footage emerged online showing her 12-year-old daughter getting badly beaten up.
Sophie Rose was out with friends in Baddow Recreation Ground in Chelmsford, Essex when another girl starting to attack her after being asked why she didn't like one of her friends.
The assault, which took place on Monday, was filmed by onlooking youths who appeared to cheer on the youth as she pulled at Sophie's hair, punched her in the head and pushed her to the floor.
Despite the graphic footage Sophie was left with only minor injuries and her friends left the park unscathed.
Sophie's mother, Jo, was left horrified when she found out her daughter had been set on by another girl and said she wanted to 'kill the girl' after she saw the video of the incident on Snapchat.
Jo told Essex Live: 'I wanted to kill the girl who had done it when I saw the film.
'It turned my stomach that someone could do that and that someone has filmed it.'
The 35-year-old mother explained: 'Sophie was at the park with her friends and there was this group of 20 others there. She knows some of that group but doesn't know them personally.
'This girl then went up to Sophie and asked her why she didn't like her mate.
'Sophie said to her friends she was scared and wanted to go home, they went to leave the park and that is when this girl grabbed her by the hair and attacked her.
'They then followed Sophie and her friends and started hanging around the house.
'She's obviously very shaken up and she's very stiff. She's lucky, it could have been a lot worse.'
After seeing the clip Sophie's father, Barry, posted it on Facebook in the hope that it would lead to his daughter's attackers being brought to justice.
So far, it has been shared almost 3,000 times, with a further 750 comments.
