A man wearing blue shorts and a black T-shirt fired two shots toward a barber shop in an attempt to shoot a 12-year-old boy. He missed with both shots.
Witnesses heard the gunman as the boy, "Are you from Douglass?" Referring to the nearby public housing project called Frederick Douglass Houses.
When the victim answered "Yes", the gunman opened fire.
The shooter is described to be about 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue shorts.
