Armed police officers arrested a man on suspicion of terrorism offences close to the Houses of Parliament in London, Thursday.
The Metropolitan Police said the incident is over and no one was injured.
The man, in his late 20s, was arrested as part of an intelligence-led operation on Parliament Street. Police said that he has been taken into custody at a south London police station.
An eye-witness stated that he saw two knives on the ground at the scene, and estimated that one was the size of a bread knife.
Police stated that the man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and also on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism. Counter Terrorism Command detectives are investigating the incident.
Security remains on high alert following an attack on Westminster Bridge and at the entrance to the Houses of Parliament on March 22, when a man drove a car into pedestrians before fatally stabbing PC Keith Palmer.
