Smoke bombs and fire crackers were launched at police as a May Day march turned violent in Portland, Oregon, Monday. Marking International Workers Day the protest initially began peacefully, with hundreds of demonstrators marching through downtown Portland. However authorities were forced to cancel the demonstration's permit after protesters began setting bins on fire and throwing projectiles at police, which reportedly included Pepsi cans. Police classified the demonstration as a 'riot', and warned protesters to disperse immediately. More than two dozen arrested.
