He was fleeing a predator, but this kangaroo found himself in deeper trouble when he lost his way in the sea.
Footage shows two men rescuing the roo, named Skippy, after he took a dip to escape a dingo on Seventeen Seventy beach in Northern Queensland.
Skippy is seen looking soaked and startled among the waves as the two men calm him and pull him from harm’s way.
The men, from Discovery Coast Snake Catchers, are seen approaching the roo from behind, grabbing his tail and taking him to shore.
The kangaroo is understood to have suffered bite wounds and exhaustion but is now being nursed back to health by wildlife carers.
The video has drawn more than 9,000 views on Facebook page and praise for the pair’s work in rescuing the roo.
‘What were his injuries?’ wrote one commenter.
‘Bite marks around upper tail and very exhausted and stressed. He should be fine with time to heal.
‘So glad to hear that Skippy is in good hands’ wrote one commenter.’
