Pot, meet Kettle, Hillary Clinton claims ‘There Is a Full-Fledged Assault on Truth’

Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton took thinly veiled shots at President Donald Trump's administration and its supporters while delivering a commencement address at Wellesley College on Friday.



Clinton described many actions of the Trump White House as a "full-fledged assault on truth" and attacked the president's budget proposal.



"You are graduating at a time when there is a full-fledged assault on truth and reason," Clinton said.



"Just log on to social media for 10 seconds. It will hit you right in the face," she said, before appearing to reference pizzagate, the border wall, and the travel ban.




"Some are even denying things we see with our own eyes, like the size of crowds," Clinton continued, attacking Trump's inflation of his inaugural crowd size. "And then defending themselves by talking about, quote unquote, alternative facts."



Clinton briefly shifted her attention to the recently proposed budget, calling it "an attack of unimaginable cruelty on the most vulnerable among us" and "a con," before pivoting back to discussing the assault on truth.



"And there's something else. As the history majors among you here today know all too well, when people in power invent their own facts and attack those who question them, it can mark the beginning of the end of a free society," she said. "That is not hyperbole. It is what authoritarian regimes throughout history have done. They attempt to control reality."



Clinton concluded by explaining to the graduates why she chose to discuss this topic during her speech.



"I believe with all my heart that the future of America, indeed the future of the world, depends on brave, thoughtful people like you insisting on truth and integrity," she said.
