A Melbourne horse has had a lucky escape after falling into a deep drain.
A passerby spotted the struggling horse, named Cisco, who was trapped in the opening with its body completely engulfed in water as the RSPCA were contacted.
State Emergency Services and Country Fire Authority were called out to the scene shortly before 12pm, who quickly tended to the distressed animal, yet struggled to initially free the horse from the two metre deep, three metre long void.
