A two-year-old boy was run over by a car and was trapped underneath the vehicle on Monday in Foshan, Guangdong Province. The boy was left behind on the road after he had become unhappy with his mother. Surveillance camera shows the mother rushed back when she spotted the accident. Luckily, some passersby lifted the car off the boy.
Every year in China, nearly 60,000 children die in accidents. Injuries, including those caused by traffic accidents, are the third most common cause of death in children under five, after infectious diseases, in China, according to the country's Maternal and Child Mortality Surveillance System. For children aged 1-4, road traffic incidents are the most frequent cause of accidental death.
