The shocking moment a driver mounted a pavement to plough down five pedestrians in a deliberate attack has been captured on CCTV.
Lugman Aslam, 26, claims he had been racially abused by the group of men moments before the incident in Leicester city centre.
A jury was shown graphic CCTV footage of the victims being thrown from the bonnet of his van in the attack on 28 June last year.
One man narrowly missed being crushed under the wheels of the van. Miraculously no-one was seriously hurt in the attack.
Aslam was jailed for five years after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and attempting to commit grievous bodily harm with intent.
His barrister told the court his client 'clearly saw red and went for this group'.
In sentencing the judge Recorder Justin Wigoder told Aslam: "What you did was truly, truly shocking. You quite deliberately mounted the pavement & drove your van at that group. It is quite remarkable that nobody was seriously hurt or killed."
Aslam was also disqualified from driving for four and a half years.
