Piers Morgan has accused Tommy Robinson, the former English Defence League leader, of "sounding like a bigoted lunatic".
He was interviewing Robinson on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday morning in the wake of the of the Finsbury Park attack.
As Robinson held up a copy of the Koran, Morgan told him: “Show some damn respect for people’s religious beliefs.
“You’re sounding like a complete lunatic. You’re sounding like a bigoted lunatic. You’re stirring up hatred.”
However, Robinson said: “This book is the reason we are in such a mess.”
The television presenter responded: “We’re in this mess because people take Islam, they are terrorists and they abuse the nature of Islam and… perpetrate evil.”
Robinson, whose birth name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, refused to accept Islam was a religion.
