A newly released report concludes that non-citizens voting illegally in recent United States elections could number in the millions, giving credence to President Donald Trump’s claims.
According to the think tank Just Facts, as many as 5.7 million illegal aliens may have voted in the 2008 election, in which Barack Obama defeated John McCain to win the presidency, The Washington Times reported.
The organization describes itself as “conservative/libertarian in our personal viewpoints — but unlike many policy and media organizations — Just Facts is committed to objectivity, and we do not favor facts that support our viewpoints.”
Just Facts’ president, James Agresti, told The Times that his researchers looked at data from the Census Bureau and other groups, as well as Harvard/YouGov studies from the 2008 and 2012 elections to help reach their conclusions.
The group cites three sources — the Department of Homeland Security, Pew Research and the Center for Migration Studies — for estimates of the number of illegal immigrants currently in the country, which is likely in excess of 11 million.
