Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), in an appearance on MSNBC on Monday, compared conservative Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Neil Gorsuch to the three horsemen of the apocalypse following the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down most of the injunction against President Trump’s travel ban.
“Neil Gorsuch, who I did not support as a Supreme Court justice, he’s joined two of the most conservative justices, Clarence Thomas and [Samuel] Alito on the court to take the position that the entire injunction should have been lifted,” Hirono said.
The Supreme Court unanimously decided to lift most of the restrictions on the president’s executive order, but Alito, Thomas, and Gorsuch issued a concurring decision advocating for lifting all of the restrictions.
“This is like the three horsemen of the apocalypse and they’re waiting for the fourth one to come along so that they can go on their trend to what I call extremism,” she said.
The four horsemen of the apocalypse, in the Book of Revelation, arrive at the beginning of the end times bringing conquest, war, famine, and death.
Hirono’s comments come less than two weeks after a Republican-hating, would-be assassin tried to kill GOP members of Congress at a congressional baseball practice.
