It’s good to know if you're talking bull - or cow - when you find an unwelcome intruder on your property.
Not knowing the difference could leave you running for your life, as this sixteen-year-old found out.
When Kelsey Watson looked out of the window of her home and saw this beast outside the garden fence she thought 'that’s a cow’.
“I looked through the window and saw there was a cow in the yard,” she said.
Puzzled Kelsey decided to go outside and take a closer look, but not before she'd called mum Tara on her mobile for some advice.
Phone in hand she walked out into the garden with her mum telling her to keep calm and to make sure the two Staffie dogs remained indoors.
Kelsey opened the back gate so she could get a closer look at the cow.
In the video she can be seen peering down at the back of the creature to see what ‘parts it’s got’.
And then it dawned on her ‘this is not a cow’.
Kelsey, who lives in Bollington, near Macclesfield, understandably decided to make a quick getaway.
But as she hurries through the garden gate the startled bull suddenly does an about turn and charges at her, completely destroying the garden fence.
She sprints through the gardening and can be seen cowering by the back door.
“I didn’t realise it was a bull," she said. “I went out to it and it charged at me and I had to hide. It rammed through the fence and damaged my little brother and sister’s bikes.
“My legs were shaking, I was pretty scared. Luckily it got stuck and one of the farmers arrived and got it away. But then it ran off into a field at the back of our house.”
Kelsey, who has just done her GCSEs at Tytherington school, said: “I rang my mum straight away and told her there was a cow in the garden. She was watching it all as it happened at my nanny and grandad’s house [via the CCTV].
“I can see the funny side of it now, but I don’t think I’ll be going near a cow again.”
Her sister, Charlene, 25, who also saw the drama unfold on CCTV on her mobile phone, said: “At the time we thought it was funny because we didn’t realise it was a bull.
“Kelsey did very well considering it charged at her. She kept calm. She was a bit shocked afterwards.”
It was later discovered that the bull had escaped from a local farm.
