Footage has emerged from a recent raid conducted by Ukrainian police, as they enter and clear a software firm they believe is partly to blame for spreading a destructive malware virus known as Petya.
Ukraine cyber police claimed the accounting software firm MEDoc is the “Patient Zero” or original infection point of the “wiper” virus that was written to destroy data. They went on to say that the software firm was repeatedly warned about the security breach of their IT infrastructure, but failed to act.
The company’s computers had been breached by hackers who installed a back door. The virus has effected computers and corporations in the US and Europe. Ukraine is blaming Russian hackers, but investigations are ongoing.
