Plans for an unmanned SpaceX mission to Mars next year have been pushed back to 2020 and the company is investigating a new way to land on the planet.
Originally, the SpaceX Dragon capsule was meant to use rocket thrusters to perform a soft landing on the Martian surface next year when Earth and Mars are at the closest point in their orbits.
The project, named "Red Dragon", has now been delayed as the company has changed the landing routine.
