Muhammad Saleem, 32, tried to groom the teenager by sending her explicit messages saying he wanted to have sex with her.
He also called himself her ‘boyfriend’ and demanded that she send him intimate photos of herself in the bath, because he ‘had a right’ to see her naked.
The pizza chef then arranged to meet up with the young girl in Times Square, in Newcastle city centre.
However, he was shocked to find grown men from the undercover organisation Dark Justice waiting for him.
Footage shows Saleem denying grooming the decoy girl, and frantically putting his phoen onto a factory reset to wipe the chat logs.
But police quickly arrested him and charged him with attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.
Saleem, from Newcastle, initially admitted the charges against him, but then appealed to change his plea.
His appeal was rejected at Newcastle Crown Court, and he was jailed for 14 months.
