Dramatic footage shows officers arresting the suspect during the terrifying incident in Manchester this afternoon.
The video captured from inside a car shows a dog grabbing the suspect and a cop shouting “armed police, put it down” before at least six officers surround him and he is Tasered to the pavement.
Stunned witnesses say the suspect was shot with a Taser by officers five times in Great Ancoats Street in the city’s trendy Northern Quarter shortly before 2.30am.
A police dog then was set on the man, who hit the ground “after a minute”.
Images show him wielding a crossbow and wearing a mask, while an eyewitness told how families were seen running from the scene.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Shortly after 2.30pm police were called to Tib Street in Manchester City Centre to reports that a man was walking around with a large crossbow and a knife.
“Armed officers attended and a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of carrying offensive weapons.
“During the incident the man suffered an injury to his hand. He has been taken to hospital for treatment.
