Michael Ward, 20, drove along a road in Harrogate, Yorks., while friend William MacPherson, 28, held on to the back of his car.
The stunt was captured on CCTV in the early hours of the morning on January 28 this year.
Ward pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.
He was disqualified from driving for 20 months, ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work, fined £85 costs and £85 victim’s surcharge.
MacPherson pleaded guilty at the same hearing to holding onto a vehicle for the purpose of being drawn.
