Senior White House Adviser Stephen Miller tore apart New York Times reporter Glenn Thrush over President Trump’s proposed immigration reform at the White House press briefing on Wednesday.
Thrush asked Miller what evidence he had to back up the claims behind the president’s move to prioritize English-speaking and high skilled immigrants, and Miller provided examples of studies that backed up the administration’s position.
Miller called for “common sense” when it comes to immigration policy.
“I’m not asking for common sense,” Thrush replied, repeatedly interrupting Miller as he attempted to answer.
“Maybe we’ll make a carve out in the bill that says The New York Times can hire all the low-skilled, less-paid workers they want from other countries and see how you feel then about low-wage substitutions,” Miller responded. “Maybe it’s time we had compassion, Glenn, for American workers.”
