Commuters have revealed the chaos on board a King's Cross train when it smashed into the buffers.
The incident took place on the 5.13am service from Royston to London today.
Passengers said they 'went flying' from one side of the carriage to the other as the train hit the barriers - which are there to stop the train from going past the end of the track - and smoke could be seen at the front.
A screen was later put up at platform nine which hid the front of the train, as staff - including police officers - gathered around.
The crash took place on the same day as a passenger train derailed after colliding with a stationary train at Waterloo, causing major delays and cancellations.
The huge disruption came as it was announced today that rail season tickets would rise by 3.6 per cent.
