President Donald Trump completed his remarks Tuesday to a crowd of Texans hit hard by Hurricane Harvey by commenting that "Texas can handle anything" and waving a Texas flag.
"I just want to thank your governor, Senator Cruz, Senator Cornyn, everybody – we want to thank the whole crew. This has been a total cooperative effort. Again, we will see you soon. This is historic, it's epic what happened, but you know what? It happened in Texas, and Texas can handle anything," Trump said to the crowd in Corpus Christi.
Trump then picked up a Texas flag – previously hidden from view – and waved it around, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Trump made his remarks after meeting with Gov. Greg Abbott (R., Texas) and other officials in Corpus Christi to discuss the recovery effort. The president remarked how he wanted this recovery effort to set the example for future recovery operations.
"We want to do it better than ever before. We want to be looked at in five years, ten years from now as: This is the way to do it," Trump said.
