More than 400 people have been forced to flee their homes after a major forest fire broke out on the holiday island of Gran Canaria.
The fast-moving blaze has already affected 1,000 hectares on the island's summit and has the potential to affect "several thousand more hectares."
The fire, which broke out this afternoon, has been described as "very aggressive" and families were told to leave their properties after the 25ft flames came close to their homes and near main roads.
At one stage, the fire surrounded the Tejeda Parador hotel which was evacuated in time and many roads on the island have been closed.
