Motorcyclist somersaults through the air in high-speed crash which left him with horrific injuries

A motorcyclist was left with horrific injuries after a high-speed crash which sent him somersaulting through the air.

Astonishing real-time footage shows his motorbike moving quickly along a residential street before colliding with a car which was attempting to turn left.

As the front of the bike hit the bonnet of the car, the rider was thrown several feet into the air, going head-over-heels twice before flying out of the camera's view.

The video then cuts to paramedics carrying him away on a stretcher, having suffered spinal injuries.

Incredibly the man is believed to have survived, and he was wearing a helmet when the collision happened.

Rather than padded motorcycle gear, however, he appears to be wearing a bright-coloured jumper and chinos.

Initially he was flung off his bike and first landed on his feet, but the force of the impact meant he was thrown several hundred feet.

At one point he landed on his upper spine, and was still travelling at a high speed when he went out of the shot.

The video appears to have been taken from a security camera attached to the front of a house in a residential street in Poland.

It has been viewed more than 40,000 times, with some speculating the car driver may have had the sun in their eyes.

One commenter on YouTube claimed woman at the wheel was holding her head and told people who rushed to the scene: "I did not see him."
