A New York bridge has been destroyed as part of a huge £655million project to rejuvenate the city.
The notorious Kosciuszko Bridge, which was designed to take a maximum of 10,000 cars a day, was carrying more than 180,000.
Delays and traffic jams made the bridge. which connected Brooklyn and Queens, a headache for locals stuck in its daily traffic jams.
It was demolished on Sunday morning as part of a a huge £655million project to rejuvenate the city.
Speaking before the detonation governor Andrew Cuomo recalled visiting his grandparents on the other side.
