A cold-blooded killer who shot dead a planning officer in front of TV cameras has been freed from prison - to the dismay of his victim's family.
Albert Dryden, 76, was serving life for the murder of principal planning officer Harry Collinson.
He had been held for 26 years and was expected to die behind bars because he refused to express remorse for the murder, believed to be the first captured 'live' on British TV.
Mr Collinson, 46, was enforcing the demolition of Dryden's illegally-built bungalow near Consett, Co Durham when he was murdered in cold blood.
His last words to TV crews were 'have you got this?' as Dryden drew a First World War pistol and shot him on June 20, 1991.
