Orlando police are searching for a man who was caught on surveillance footage 'stealing' a dying pedestrian's belongings after he was struck by a car.
The unidentified pedestrian was killed by a vehicle that was traveling northbound while he was crossing South Semoran Boulevard on Sunday.
'As pedestrian struck on Semoran 10/15 @ 9pm lay in the road & died, this man stole his belongings,' Orlando police tweeted on Thursday.
Authorities said the impact of the crash caused the man's belongings 'to be catapulted off his body and onto the sidewalk'.
The surveillance footage, which was taken from a nearby store, shows a car driving before coming to a halt in the middle of traffic near the incident.
A man then gets out of the vehicle and walks over to the sidewalk. The video shows him grabbing something that was lying on the pavement.
He immediately gets back in the car and drives off. Meanwhile, the victim lay dying nearby and the man didn't call 911. Orlando police believe the man took either a wallet or the victim's phone.
'We believe this was a horrific act, and it made it difficult for detectives to immediately identify the victim, who died at the scene,' an Orlando police representative told WKMG.
