This is the stomach-churning moment an elderly woman had more than 30 maggots pulled out of her ear after it became infested when a fly crawled inside her ear lobe and laid eggs.
Grim footage shows doctors removing one of the wriggling bugs with a pair of tweezers at the Third Xiangya Hospital in Central South University.
The 76-year-old woman had been referred to the ear, nose and throat specialists at Changsha after suffering ear pain and then noticing a maggot crawling out of her ear.
According to the patient's granddaughter, she had suffered from chronic suppurative otitis media - an inflammatory disease of the middle ear - which causes pus to be discharged.
