CCTV captures shocking moment Brazil international Jefferson is carjacked at gunpoint

CCTV footage has captured the shocking moment Brazil goalkeeper Jefferson was carjacked at gunpoint.

The Botafogo shot-stopper, who has made 22 appearances for his country, was on his way to training when the terrifying incident happened.

Stopping at a pedestrian crossing, a car whisked past Jefferson's 4x4 and pulled in front of it.

Two men exited the vehicle wielding hand guns, pointing them directly at Jefferson.

At one point, the former Trabzonspor number one attempted to drive away but thought better of it.

One of the thieves ran past Jefferson's car and out of CCTV view, while the other proceeded to make Jefferson exit his vehicle.

A third man then reversed the car they arrived in to clear an exit route.

Jefferson was forced to kneel on the pavement with his arms raised as all three men entered his car and made a quick getaway.

Brazilian police did later recover his vehicle. A statement from the authorities read: "Police officers of the Pacifying Police Unit (UPP) Fazendinha and the 3rd BPM (Méier) recovered, on Sunday afternoon (22/10), the car of Botafogo goalkeeper, Jefferson de Oliveira Galvão, who had been robbed in the morning during a assault in the neighborhood of Engenho de Dentro, in the suburb.

"After searching, the MPs found the vehicle abandoned in Rua Tangapeme, in the place known as Zona do Medo, in Fazendinha community. A group that was close to the place escaped with the arrival of the agents."

Jefferson was on the bench for Brazil's humiliating 7-1 defeat to Germany in the 2014 World Cup.
