A video of a couple passed out in a car while a baby wearing a dirty nappy cries in the back has been shared by police to show the grim reality of the US opioid crisis.
Shocked officers discovered Sean Gannon and Kimberly McCaffrey unconscious, and said the eight-month-old girl had not been fed for a long time.
When her mother was roused, it quickly became clear that the infant's nappy was filled with fluid, and she was seen crying in the heartbreaking video.
The clip, taken on a body camera, was posted on Facebook by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida after the couple were discovered at 3.15am on Tuesday.
A message alongside the video said kids are often the 'collateral damage' when adults take opioids.
