Jamie Mullins, 28, from St Ann’s, was seen outside the Fiveways Centre in Sherwood, which is used for Islamic prayer, on June 18 during Ramadan. Mullins was wearing a football shirt, drinking from a can of beer and carrying a St George’s flag when he committed the offence. He then smeared pork sausage meat on the mosque.
Mullins admitted two charges – one of racially or religiously aggravated harassment, alarm and distress, and one of racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage. He was accompanied by Matthew Sarsfield, of Sherbrook Road Daybrook, who admitted one charge of causing racially or religiously aggravated harassment, alarm or distress. Both were sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Tuesday this week.
