Joel Benenson would not tell MSNBC’s Chris Jansing how much the Clinton campaign paid for opposition research.
Joel Benenson, who served as the chief strategist for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, said the controversial Trump dossier was “standard opposition research,” during an interview on MSNBC Monday.
MSNBC’s Chris Jansing played a clip of President Trump discussing opposition research from July and asked Benenson how much the Clinton campaign spent on such research.
Benenson elected not answer, instead telling Jansing, “I think it has no relevance. We lost the campaign. Nothing ever came of that. That was standard opposition research. That’s what goes on,” Benenson said, referring to the Fusion GPS-produced dossier.
