A man suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run has been arrested after driving into a lake and attempting to swim away from police officers.
Bizarre dash cam footage captures the moment the allegedly drunk driver ploughs his vehicle into the water, before getting out and trying to make a break for it.
The man, named by local media as Daniel Basham, from Texas, drove his SUV into Lake Arlington after being chased through the streets by Arlington Police Department.
They had been flagged down by a witness who told them that a driver who was 'possibly impaired' had a hit a car several times.
