South Australian jockey Dylan Caboche has been suspended for a fortnight after punching his mount She's Reneldasgirl behind the barriers prior to the running of race two at Port Lincoln on Wednesday.
Stewards charged the rider with misconduct under rule AR175(q) for striking his mount prior to loading.
Caboche had dismounted the Allan Jarvis-trained galloper after she became fractious.
A barrier attendant grabbed She's Reneldasgirl's reins before a seemingly agitated Caboche struck a blow to the horse's abdomen.
