Judge Roy Moore (R-Ala.) steadfastly maintained his innocence during a press conference in Birmingham.
Moore accused Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) of trying to "steal" the Alabama special election.
He said McConnell helped dump millions of dollars into defeating him in the Republican primary, where Moore bested the McConnell-endorsed Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.) and Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.).
"Mitch McConnell needs to step down," he said. "Mitch McConnell and his cronies are trying to steal this election from the people of Alabama."
Moore ripped the Washington Post for what he called their series of unsubstantiated allegations against him.
Saying that he will continue to "take a stand" for God, the Constitution and moral values, Moore said "I'll quit standing when they lay me in that box and put me in the ground."
He said McConnell and the D.C. establishment is afraid of the prospect of a Sen. Moore, who would bring "moral value back in the country."
"Without God we would never succeed," he said, adding that he is a uniter, but not the type he envisioned.
Moore said he successfully united both the Republican and Democratic Parties against him.
