Pure class was simply radiating from MSNBC hostess Kasie Hunt on Monday, when she said with a smile that the attack Kentucky Senator Rand Paul suffered is one of her favorite stories.
You’ll recall that Paul, a favorite of many Libertarians and Republicans, was attacked from behind by his neighbor, Rene Boucher, while the senator was working on his lawn. The attack resulted in five fractured ribs and a perforated lung.
According to Boucher’s lawyer, he attacked Paul because of a disagreement over a “landscaping dispute,” and went so far as to plead “not guilty” to the assault charge. However, Paul’s neighbors — and especially Paul — have cast doubts on Boucher’s claim, and the belief that the attack was politically motivated has been widely circulated. Boucher’s claim that it was over lawn care also seems suspect, seeing as how he could face serious time in prison should the attack have been the result of Paul’s decisions in his duties as a senator.
But despite the fact that Paul has been both physically attacked while doing yard work, and shot at while practicing baseball, MSNBC’s Hunt still finds this amusing enough for this to be her favorite story.
“New details today on the incident that left Senator Rand Paul with six broken ribs,” Hunt says. “This might be one of my favorite stories.”
