The president denied that he continues speaks with Bannon, the former White House chief strategist.
Speaking with the press prior to a meeting with congressional leaders on Thursday, President Trump seemed pleased at Steve Bannon’s deference to him, following his scorched-earth takedown of the current Breitbart executive.
Asked if Bannon “betrayed” him, a smirk broke out across Trump’s face.
“I don’t know, he called me a great man last night,” the president said. “He obviously changed his tune pretty quick.”
Trump also denied that he continues to speak with Bannon, contrary to various media reports.
The president tore apart Bannon in an official White House statement, criticizing his former chief strategist for his political ineffectiveness and constant leaking while working at the White House.
