This is the moment an escaped prisoner tried to speed away from police by driving the wrong way down a busy motorway.
Darryl Dempsey was jailed for two years on Thursday after careering across fields and down the M3 his Isuzu Trooper 4x4.
The 22-year-old was wanted by officers after absconding from Ford prison in West Sussex on July 3 last year and was involved in a high-speed chase 10 days later.
Traffic police approached him in his truck on the M271 in Hampshire, close to the junction with the M27, but gave chase when he failed to stop.
As this footage from the National Police Air Service and one of the police cars shows, Dempsey did everything he could to avoid capture, driving across fields, driving on footpaths and even attempting to drive down the wrong way of the M3.
The 13-minute pursuit came to an abrupt end just before 10.30pm on July 13 when an officer forced a collision with Dempsey in Chilworth, Hants. No one was seriously injured in the crash.
