The town manager of Jackman, Maine, is under fire for expressing "pro-white" views and suggesting that racial groups would benefit from being “voluntarily separate," according to local reports.
Tom Kawczynski moved to Maine from Arizona a year ago and started the website New Albion, which according to the site, was created to defend "the people and culture of New England." Kawczynski told the Bangor Daily Newsthat he is "pro-white without being anti-other groups in terms of their racial identity."
The Jackman-Moose River Region Chamber of Commerce said in a Facebook post that Kawczynski's views are "shocking and offensive."
"The Jackman, Maine, community do not share his views and call on the town selectman to do what is needed," The Chamber of Commerce said in Facebook post.
Kawczynski told WLBZ-TV he believes he will lose his job over the comments.
On his website, Kawczynski said the press have unfairly portrayed him as a racist, but he will continue to stand up for what he believes.
In one post, the 37-year-old writes that until "white people can be as proud as black people," the racial divide will never begin to heal.
