Joseph Fletcher, 30, referenced the 2010 murder of LaDonte Smith (Tay) who was shot in a car on Wall Street, claiming: ‘I did it.’
However, a friend of Fletcher, Anthony Smart (Champy) was locked up for the crime after he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.
Fletcher is behind bars for a weapons charge but has now suggested that it was actually he who committed the murder and Champy took the wrap for him.
He said on the video, recorded on an illegal phone: ‘I did it, everybody know I did it. I love Tay… a situation presented itself… you can’t be mad. If it wasn’t for Champy I’d have a life sentence right now.’
He added: ‘You know I still got love for Tay. The streets is mean like … But RIP Tay. What happened happened; it’s a cold game.
I’m talking about, it’s a cold game. I seen it with my own eyes.’
