A politician caught on camera using bolt cutters to remove a wheel clamp from his car says he 'regrets' his actions - but denies carrying the cutters around in his own boot.
Sinn Fein MLA Gerry Kelly, who is also a police spokesman, had left his vehicle outside the gym for just over an hour when the incident occurred.
The 64-year-old North Belfast representative said he regretted his actions and said it was the first time he had ever done anything like that.
Speaking for the first time since the controversy over the weekend, Belfast Live reported that Mr Kelly had said in an interview that he had now paid a £100 fine and £50 for damage.
"I was in the gym early, I usually go in before 7am and I came out just after 8am," he told Talkback.
