A teenager was seen desperately scrambling to save a two-year-old boy who jumped onto tracks shortly before a train arrived.
CCTV footage shows the toddler running to the edge of the platform at a Milan metro station and jumping down on to the tracks below.
His mother soon realises what has happened and looks on in shock as she tries grabbing him as other people come rushing to help.
It isn't until the brave 18-year-old Italian student throws off his backpack and jumps down that the boy is safe.
