A giant 30ft sinkhole collapsed a residential street swallowing six cars and forcing families to flee their homes.
The huge hole opened up in the Balduina district in Rome yesterday evening following several months of construction work on three buildings in the area.
Six cars tumbled into the pit which opened up at around 5.30pm and measured 30ft deep and 50ft wide.
And while luckily no one was injured, police and the fire service were called to safely evacuate two nearby residential buildings.
