MSNBC hosts Mika Brzezinski and Stephanie Ruhle told Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) to "step up" on Thursday and discuss gun safety, with Ruhle telling Rubio to "be a human."
The two MSNBC hosts were talking about Wednesday's high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, which left 17 students dead, when they turned on Rubio, a gun rights supporter.
Brzezinski gave her final thoughts on the shooting at the end of "Morning Joe" just before Ruhle began her broadcast.
"Hearing anybody in Washington saying now is not the time is old, it's been used too many times, there are too many bodies in the wake of this conversation that we can't have at this appropriate time," Brzezinski said. "I'd say to Marco Rubio, step up, be a man, talk about it right now, or to anybody else who tries to deflect the question about what to do about guns and assault weapons in our society, step up, be a man and talk about it, and stop thinking about the NRA and your next campaign donation. Just stop. Everyone knows what you're doing and it's time."
Brzezinski then handed the broadcast over to Ruhle, who has a habit of directly addressing the camera to criticize Republicans.
"And to Marco Rubio, you don't have to step up and be a man. Step up and be a human," Ruhle said.
Rubio said Wednesday people should avoid jumping to conclusions and wait for the facts to see if any gun laws could have been passed to prevent the massacre.
