This shocking video taken on Demesne Road in Whalley Rang shows the moment police officers took down a man who was viciously attacking them with a 3ft sword.
Footage shows the knifeman, 23, running from an alleyway with a sword before being confronted by uniformed officers.
He lashes out and injures at least two officers before being Tasered, disarmed and arrested, the Manchester Evening News reports.
One officer is in hospital with serious injuries. They are not thought to be life-threatening.
