Villagers crowded around in awe after a local fisherman caught a giant 8ft long squid.
Dozens of stunned residents watched while the bright white marine creature was measured at 18 inches wide as it lay on the ground.
It is believed to be the biggest squid the remote island region of Tawi-tawi, Philippines, has ever seen.
The creature was hauled ashore on Friday morning at around 9am.
Harold Eduardo Curtis, a fisherman on the island who saw the squid, said: ''I know the fisherman who caught this squid.
