Teacher, 37, who adopted teenage student, had sexual relationship with him and had his baby faces jail

A female teacher who adopted one of her underage students and went on to have his baby now faces jail.



English teacher Laura Lynn Cross, 37, began inviting the unnamed boy over to her swimming pool.



This led to him staying over and eventually moving in before fathering her baby in Cleveland, US.



Their child was born in December 2015 when the boy was 17 after three years of grooming.



The father of the teenager, who did not live with him, told a local news station in Cleveland: "They were having sex."



The Buchtel High School teacher pleaded guilty on Friday to charges stemming from her three-year relationship with the student that resulted in her having his child.



Cross pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual battery, third-degree felonies.



She will be sentenced May 24 and could face a lengthy time behind bars.



The news site said prosecutors revealed Cross began a three-year sexual relationship with the boy in 2014.



At the time, the teen was living with Cross, who was his legal guardian after she had left her school job and become his foster carer.



The boy’s biological mother filed a complaint with Akron police in June 2015 about the affair.
