Shocking footage has emerged of police repeatedly punching a black student as they tried to arrest him in the street.
Officers from Cambridge, Massachusetts, are being criticised for their actions and an internal review is now underway.
Footage which was filmed by a shocked onlooker shows the Harvard student being pinned down by the police and repeatedly hit in the stomach.
He was identified as 21-year-old Selorm Ohene, who was being arrested at 10pm on Friday night for disorderly conduct, indecent exposure, resisting arrest and assault after police found him naked in the middle of the street.
According to the Washington Post , the man had been acting "completely irrational" and officers received several phone calls regarding the man - including one from a woman who he'd thrown his clothes at.
It is alleged the student had taken drugs.
The footage shows Ohene being approached by the officers in the middle of the street before being tackled to the ground and struck.
He can be heard screaming for help as he is pinned down and several witnesses said a pool of blood was left on the ground, the Washington Post reports.
A police report said he was punched five times.
