Chinese helicopters fired missiles in a powerful display of military strength a week after what was claimed to be its largest naval parade in 600 years.
The live-fire drills near the Taiwan Strait saw helicopters fly over water and launching missiles.
CGTN reported that after taking off at 9am pilots set their own course and detected targets on the water.
They then assaulted floating targets and simulated ships with missiles and rocket projectiles.
Sun Yongfu, deputy commander of the exercise, said the exercise was carried out in line with real combat standards and has improved the force's capabilities to fulfill missions.
